About Us

A free, accurate unemployment benefits calculator for all 50 US states and DC.

What We Built

This site calculates estimated unemployment insurance benefits for every US state using each state's official formula. We cover all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, with data verified against official state labor department publications.

Beyond the calculator, we've built a state comparison tool, a budget runway calculator, and a library of guides explaining how unemployment insurance works, how to file, and how to navigate the system.

Data Sources

Every benefit amount, formula, and eligibility rule on this site is sourced from official government publications. We do not invent or estimate state rules.

  • DOL Significant Provisions of State UI Laws — the primary annual reference published by the US Department of Labor covering all 50 states' formulas, minimums, maximums, and durations.
  • DOL Comparison of State UI Laws — supplemental detail on eligibility rules, base periods, and special provisions.
  • Individual state agency publications — for mid-year changes, direct verification against each state's labor department website.

All state data is reviewed annually when the DOL publishes updated Significant Provisions (typically January). Mid-year changes — such as New York's $504→$869 increase (October 2025) and Michigan's $362→$530 increase (January 2026) — are updated as they take effect.

Important Disclaimer

This calculator provides estimates only. Actual benefit amounts are determined by your state's unemployment insurance agency based on your official employer-reported wage records, which may differ from what you enter here.

This site is not affiliated with any federal or state government agency. For official determinations, always file through your state's official unemployment insurance portal.
